Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I hire a professional pest control service instead of just doing it myself?

It is possible to do your own pest control, but unqualified application of pesticides will often lead to ineffective results. In order to get optimal outcomes, knowledge and training is required. Our technicians know where pests like to hide, they can accurately identify what pest is causing the problem, they know the appropriate pesticides and application rates needed, and they understand preventive measures that will keep pests from coming back. In short, professional pest technicians have more experience, are highly trained, and have access to better products, which will nearly always produce better results.

Do I need to leave my home during treatments?

Most standard pest control treatments no longer require clients to leave their homes and involve little to no disruption in their daily schedule. If it would be advisable to leave during specific treatments, your technician will let you know so that you can arrange your schedule accordingly. Businesses typically prefer to have treatments done after business hours for convenience.

What dangers do pests pose?

There are many problems that pests can pose, depending on the species. Aside from being nuisances, many pests, especially rodents, can contaminate food and spread bacteria and illnesses like salmonella and e-coli. Roaches are also known for causing allergies and exacerbating asthma in susceptible groups. Stings or bites can be a consequence of pests like bed bugs, mosquitoes, wasps, bees, and fire ants. The structural integrity of your home may also be compromised by termites, carpenter ants, and rodents. This is not a comprehensive list, but it is easy to see that pests need to be taken care of as quickly as possible.

Are your pest control products safe?

Yes, safety is our top priority. The pest control industry is highly regulated, and each product must go through rigorous testing. All products that we use are approved and safe around families, pets, and the environment. All of our technicians are fully trained and certified with many years of experience. You can feel peace of mind knowing that SWAT always puts safety first.

Can my children play in the yard during treatment?

Children and pets should be kept away during application and for the proceeding time it takes for the treatment to dry. If your children's skin or clothes come in contact with the spray before it dries, take off contaminated clothing and rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Once our application dries there is no re-entry period. When dry, there is little opportunity for the product to transfer to dry people or pets that brush against the vegetation.

How long does treatment take? How long will it last?

A typical treatment of a half-acre property will average 30-45 minutes. Larger yards may take longer to treat. Based on our experience, our clients have experienced mosquito reductions for up to 60 days. We generally recommend a re-treatment every 3 to 4 weeks to deter mosquitos from repopulating the area.

Will a SWAT Mosquito Treatment kill all the mosquitos on my property?

No service can offer 100% protection from every mosquito. As you might imagine, a mosquito from a neighbouring property could wander into your yard and bite you before landing on the treated foliage. However, you’ll find that the presence of mosquitoes is enormously reduced.

Can I get a one-time treatment for an outdoor event?

Yes. We have a special event barrier spray available for everything from a small birthday party to a huge wedding reception. Special event treatment is provided 24-72 hours before the event and will remain effective even if it rains.

What if it rains after my SWAT Mosquito Treatment?

As long as your yard has had adequate time to dry and bind to the plants after the application of your treatment, normal rain should not impact the effectiveness of our service.

Are the mosquito control products harmful to my trees, shrubs and plants?

Absolutely not! Both our all-natural and synthetic mosquito treatments are not harmful to your plants. They are designed to be absorbed by the plant in order to provide residual control for mosquitoes when they feed on the plant juices.
